The Summer I Turned Pretty – Audiobook Online

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han is the first book in the “Summer” series. It tells the story of Belly, a teenage girl who spends every summer at a beach house with her mother and her mother’s best friend, Susannah. This year, however, things are different – Belly is now seventeen, and the boys that she used to play with as a child are now noticing her in a new way.

As Belly spends her summer days and nights catching up with old friends and making new ones, she also finds herself caught between the attention of two boys – Conrad, the quiet and brooding son of Susannah, and Jeremiah, the fun-loving and carefree younger brother. Belly must navigate these new romantic feelings while also dealing with the changes in her relationships with her family and friends.

Throughout the book, Belly reflects on her past summers at the beach house and how she has grown and changed over the years. The story is a coming-of-age tale about first love, family, and the bittersweet feeling of growing up.

Belly has an unforgettable summer in this wonderful start to the New York Times bestselling author’s Summer I Turned Pretty series with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.

Some summers are just destined to be pretty.

Belly measures her life in the summer. Everything good, everything magical happens between June and August. Winter is simply a time to count the weeks until next summer, a place away from the house by the sea, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They’re the guys Belly has known since her first summer — they’re her big brother figure, the one she likes and everything in between. But in one summer, a wonderful and terrible summer, the more things change, the more everything ends up the way it should.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is a heartwarming book that reminds me of beach summers and teenage love. Jenny Han documented a lot of the thoughts and feelings I might have gone through as a teenage girl. As an adult, the characters sometimes seem bland and childish, but in the end, that’s what it feels like to be a teenager… a big kid who feels like an adult but isn’t quite there yet.

The book is really good. The relationship between the four is layered, wonderful, and complex. You have a crush on Belly and her love for Conrad and Jeremiah. The simple yet classic love triangle is both crazy and sweet and frustrating because you can’t help but root each of them out for a different reason.

I have to admit that I like the changes Jenny made to the show a lot better.
