Another great story from Alexander McCall Smith. I like Isabel’s self-dialogue, she’s going through more ethical issues when she should be listening to someone talk. This story features a Cat’s deli vendor helping out when Cat is sick and the staff has problems. Jami is busy with his music and Charlie is being taught math by Grace, which leads to a problem with Isabel. Duncan Munrowe asks Isabel to help him recover a stolen painting by French artist Nicolas Poussin. Isabel is able to come up with the most unconventional ways to solve problems. Davina Porter and her soft Scottish accent is Isabel. She is a joy to listen to. Can’t wait for the next book.

What a joy it is to read a book by an erudite writer who loves to explore his extraordinary mind and share his opinions. In this day and age, it’s refreshing to hear someone express their opinion on something in an intelligent and balanced way. I also appreciate his balance of plot, character development, lots of new people, and his specific views on life, ethics and morality.
