In Molly Harper’s “Undead Sublet,” chef Tess Maitland is barred from her five-star kitchen in Chicago to recover from “exhaustion.” Picking a random rental house in Half-Moon Hollow to live in, she doesn’t know that the house is inhabited by a strange man. Although Sam Masden’s ex – wife leased the house to him, the divorce agreement allowed him to use it for another ninety days. With Tess unable to go anywhere else and Sam unwilling, an epic war is declared – and romantic sparks and heavy vases soar.

Jessica Sims’ “Out With a Fang” stars Ruby Sommers, a lonely jaguar who signs up for a blind date through the paranormal dating agency Midnight Liaisons. Upon arrival, she discovers that her date, a vampire, is the same person she fell in love with four years ago but was forced to give up.

This kept coming up as a suggestion so I gave it a try. I really like it. All 3 stories are fun and romantic. I’m a Molly Harper fan and bought it because of her story, but it’s the weakest of the three and very well reflects a grueling formula she’s fallen into. If you like fun vampire stories with happy endings and great characters, listen to this collection.

I have been a huge fan of Katie MacAlister and Molly Harper and these stories did not disappoint. If you like these authors, you should like this book. And, I was delighted to find an author, Jessica Sims, that I had never read before. (I added her book to my Wish List.) The stories are basically long short stories, but long enough for me to get a feel for the characters and their stories. It’s all about humor, romance and of course mystical characters…. It’s just an enjoyable book and a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
