Above all, his books are beautifully written with sharp plots and a comfortable mix of poetry and clever wit. Reading his novels was never just a pastime. These wondrous books move you in unexpected ways, frighten you, make you laugh, and honestly, you often find yourself surprisingly wiping tears from your cheeks. Perhaps these broken people remind you of your own dents and bruises. Such a master, such an artist.

Unlike previous Charlie Parker books, The Unquiet is set more with a more deliberate pace, creeping and terrifying you. A difficult subject, handled with care and respect. Charlie Parker’s flaws are obvious and he can’t come out of this situation unscathed or uncontaminated – not all heroes can have chiseled jaws and wear shirts cloak. I love the ethereal qualities and characters of the book as well as the shadows that surround you as you read. Well done Mr. Connelly.
