Anxiety is a powerful force. It makes us question ourselves and our decisions, makes us worry about the future, and fills our days with fear and emotional chaos. Based on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), this audiobook is designed to help you break the cycle of anxiety.

Anxiety convinces us that there is danger and then tricks us into fight, flight, or freeze mode — even when there is no danger. The techniques in this audiobook, rather than encouraging you to avoid or try to fight your anxiety, show you how to see the hidden trickery of your anxious thoughts and how avoidance can be counterproductive. use and how it makes anxiety worse.

If you’re ready to start observing your feelings of anxiety clearly and distantly – instead of being fooled again – this audiobook will show you how.

This book focuses on Acceptance and Commitment therapy. Personally, for someone who has been dealing with anxiety for a while, I found this therapy to be life changing. I received this book in very poor condition. Now I want to re-read it with a clearer head to help me really absorb everything he said. I feel ACT is harmful to learning how to live with anxiety and compulsions. He explains in detail that, although DBT and CBT are great, they don’t always work for ‘anxious people’. Dr. Carbonell explains everything in this book by giving lots of examples – and even explains them from multiple angles. Because of this, I felt the book could have had ‘run on’ moments; but I think it is necessary because everyone learns differently. He provides you with many unique and different ways for each individual to choose which strategy is best for him or her. I can’t wait for ACT to become a more practical approach for people struggling with anxiety. Dr. Carbonell, you helped me so much, and explained anxiety and worry in a way that didn’t make me feel helpless anymore. I also have his book Panic Work and that is amazing too. If you’re craving something new, this is it! 🙂 Hope this is useful.
