Theodore Boone: The Abduction
I enjoyed the first book in this series Theodore Boone: The Kid Lawyer so decided to listen to this one also. Glad I did. Richard Thomas does a good job narrating the story. This story is advertised for children but adults will enjoy it also. It is a short story that leaves one feeling good. It is nice to see a 13 year old with such a focus on what he wants to do with his life. Enjoyed the scenes in animal court in both books. This one particularly was funny. You will enjoy this book for a 4 hour trip with the family.
Review 2: Theodore Boone: The Abduction audiobook by Michelle
I loved Theodore Boone Kid Lawyer and this is a follow up to that. I was very let down while and after reading this. It’s a re-tell of the first book. Different names, places and crime but same steps were taken. I think, bottom line, that bothered me was the fact that this should have been called and charged as a short story. It took me about 5 hours to read. That’s a short story. Not even enough to get emotionally involved..not like his first one.
Review 3: Theodore Boone: The Abduction audiobook by K. Davis
This story is definitely designed for adolescents and is a very good story for that age bracket. For adults it may be a little simplistic, but for adolescents John Grisham has provided a challenge with several built in challenges, as well. For instance, should he call his parents when he decides to leave town in pursuit of the victim’s presumed location? That’s a major dilemma for a 13 year old. Too many things could go wrong. John Grisham teaches the adolescent reader why parents make rules and how to both respect those rules even when it appears they should be bypassed and how to achieve the higher goal, in this case rescuing the person abducted. Kids have a tough time with decisions that flaunt independence rather than obedience, and Mr. Grisham shows respect for both the responsible parents and the responsible adolescent who may sometimes bend the rules but won’t do things that harm anyone, including himself. Good book, great author.
