Best Audiobook 2021 – The Sagan Diary By John Scalzi
The Sagan Diary is a science fiction fantasy novel. It is a short installment after the 4th chapter of the Old Man’s War novel series. It is written by none other than John Scalzi who is always a maestro at work when it comes to his writing of science fiction fantasies. This one specifically is a poem and not a full-fledged novel. There are plenty of his other books to endorse that claim where the best one from him is: The Last Emperox and Old Man’s War novels.
The narration of this short book is done by Stephanie Wolfe. John Scalzi himself had a very small role to play in this one with the introductory part narration. This turned out to be quite good.
We see this amazing warrior woman in the Old Man’s War novel series by John Scalzi. She was strong-headed and pretty much silent from the outside. But, in the Sagan Diary, Sagan is shown as a completely transformed person and from a different point of view. As she gets herself ready the leaving the military life and start living her life with her adopted daughter and new husband on the colony world, then Sagan had something to say about her life in her own words. She recalled all her old memories including her best mates, battles, and a range of different experiences. It also illustrated the wonders along with the violence of her time.
This book is more of a poem regarding life and it may be a kind of a love letter in the form of a book. If you are looking for some action or plot as in a science fiction fantasy then just skip this one.
