(Free Online Audiobook) Talking to Strangers By Malcolm Gladwell

Malcolm Gladwell takes a very common issue from our everyday life and then tries to make certain things clear about it so that his book can act as a guideline for the listener. There are some who thought in the beginning that Malcolm’s voice as a narrator was not perfect because he has lesser experience but as it is not a story so a lot of variations were never needed. In narration the book needed the sound of a teacher who could preach the whole idea to the audience.

According to the author we don’t feel comfortable when we meet a stranger, it is not because we are afraid of him or her but we fear because of lack of information about him. On the other hand meeting a friend is not a tough job because we know about his likes and dislikes and the topics of his choice on which we can talk for hours.

The author also denies the tools that we mostly use while analyzing a stranger. Most of us can tell about a person after just shaking hands with him but it is wrong according to the author. In just a single meeting or just looking into the eye for a while cannot tell about the true intentions of a man because in appearance we only see what the other person wants us to see.

Like Outliers and Blink the book also talks about certain theories like the Truth Default Theory and the transparency and coupling like things are at work. The author has done quite a research and the main idea could be that strangers should not be trusted at once.
