Lady Windermere’s Fan

Lady Windermere’s Fan is a literary fiction book by author Oscar Wilde. Oscar Wilde’s first play confronts hypocrisy versus genuine, private kindness. When it opened in 1892, Lady Windermere’s Fan was an instant success, and more than a century later, it continues to have regular revivals. To determine the reason for its popularity: the play’s witty dialogue contains many of Wilde’s most quoted aphorisms. Its stylish setting offers elegant presentation opportunities, and the play’s memorable cast of characters make for a touchingly authentic story. This new audio production brings together the full cast worthy of Wilde’s creative genius.

The full list of narrators includes: Samuel West, Michael Sheen, Derek Waring, Peter Yapp, Nicholas Boulton, Benjamin Soames, Rod Beacham, Emma Fielding, Sarah Badel, Elaine Claxton, Delia Paton and Juliet Stevenson.

Here are some comments from readers to better understand this good audiobooks:

01- I really love all of his books – Oscar Wilde and “Lady Windermere’s Fans” rank very high on my all-time favorites list. What I like best about Wilde’s style: it’s funny, quirky, engaging, fast-paced. This four-action comedy follows a woman named Lady Windermere who discovers that her husband is having an affair with another woman named Mrs. Erlynne. She began an affair with Lord Darlington. What impressed me most was the easy use of title words.
I really loved this book, my all time favorite, and it’s always a pleasure to read it again.

02- If you like Oscar Wilde, you’ll love his recording of one of his most interesting plays. Juliet Stevenson as Mrs. Erlynne seems to break into your living room, and the other characters are portrayed with equal and similar powers. The vocal quality of this recording is also excellent. A pleasant surprise during my morning commute. A great performance includes Juliet Stevenson, a beloved storyteller.
