Living Dead in Dallas/ Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mystery #2 – Online Free

Living Dead in Dallas is the second mystery novel in the Sookie Stackhouse series by author Charlaine Harris.
Charlaine Harris’s famous mysteries about the Vampires of the South have been described by Publishers Weekly as a “funny Southern fantasy” with a hint of romance.
In the sequel to Dead Until Dark, the friend has the telepathic abilities of the undead; Sookie Stackhouse puts its newfound powers to the test. After an unfortunate incident, Sookie finds herself under the care of a group of Louisiana vampires. She agrees to travel to Dallas with her immortal boyfriend Bill and track down the missing vampire, but only if the vampire promises to leave the locals unharmed. When an emerging religious sect seems to threaten to destroy all things vampires – including Sookie, who is quickly planned to be sacrificed.

The second of eight novels by Sookie Stackhouse have been published to date. I ordered the first four novels in the series after seeing them praised in a literary bibliography on vampire fiction. Harris writes about it better than Rice or Hamilton, but just like everyone else.
In the second novel, Sookie is sent by the vampire Eric to Dallas to help the vampires there. Bill goes with her and between the two of them manage to make use of themselves. The book changes places but it feels pretty much the same as the first one, with nice variations. New supernatural entities appear, the differences of vampire and shape-shifting societies are noted, and Sookie meets another psychic. That constitutes plot A. Plot B concerns the death of Merlottes’ short-order chef, who is discovered to be a participant in the Bon Temps underground group sex community. The two stories are better connected than one might predict.

But something happened in the most recent volume that pretty much guarantees that Season Two won’t start from this novel. The main bad guy of LIVE DALLS IN DALLAS and his wife die in a mysterious car wreck. The novels don’t have a political debate about the Vampire Rights Act, but this particular novel contains a frenzied anti-vampire group. The head of the Dallas chapter is the one who dies in the car wreck in this episode.
