This is the first in Andre Klein’s series, and as with many early attempts in the series, this one has a tricky side or two. This is a solid short story, however, and since its purpose is to teach reading German, one shouldn’t expect Moby Dick. I have progressed through Klein’s stories and studying my audio language to the point where I find this easy to understand, after working continuously with my German for over a year now. I didn’t study it every day, as soon as the thought came to me, and after a few months off work, I had no problem with this story. Klein made contact. My only complaint is that the glossary at the end of his chapter could be supplemented.
