Mr. Darcy’s Journey/ A Pride & Prejudice Variation – Free Full Audiobook

Mr. Darcy’s Journey is a literary fiction book by author Abigail Reynolds.
Elizabeth Bennet, the woman he couldn’t live without, overheard him insulting her family. She won’t even listen to his apology. Then his old friend, Sir Anthony Duxbury, told him that their two friends were in terrible danger. Darcy wanted to help them, they had to go to Yorkshire immediately.

Elizabeth claims to know Sir Anthony too – but by a different name. What game is his old friend playing?
Sir Anthony also said that the trip was very dangerous. Luddite rebels are on the verge of armed uprising. He should know, because he’s one of them. Darcy’s cousin Lady Frederica decided she would go with them anyway and insisted on taking Elizabeth with her. Could this be Darcy’s chance to receive Elizabeth’s forgiveness and love?

Elizabeth would rather face an army of Napoleon than be stuck in a carriage for three days with Darcy and his stubborn cousin, but she has her own reasons for agreeing to come. She can keep her cool, she can rescue her uncle from financial ruin.

When a Luddite riot breaks out around them, it’s Darcy and Elizabeth who need to be rescued – from each other.

This is basically the history of the early days of the Industrial Revolution in England when factories started using mechanical looms and in many cases workers were marginalized. Fitzwilliams, Darcy, Elizabeth, and Sir Anthony end up in Sheffield, where they experience rioting, hanging, imprisonment, and mostly male injuries. Luckily, they have Lady Matlock with the planning, keeping everyone focused and surprising everyone, including Darcy and Elizabeth.
