The author here are a husband-wife couple who uses this pen name for writing brilliant fantasy romance and paranormal romance. They have also written mystery thrillers, action & adventure and science fiction fantasies. The best novel from the author in mystery thriller genre is Blood Heir. In action & adventure category, the most renowned novel by Ilona Andrews is Magic Bites.

The narration of this chapter is done by Emily Rankin. It was an average job done by Emily which was far from perfection. Actually, the main complaint is that the voice of the narrator is high pitched which annoyed quite a few listeners.

In a world where magic is believed to be the key for wealth and power, Catalina is a prime which is the highest possible rank that could be associated with a magic user. She was also known as the head of her house. Catalina Baylor has been scared quite much to employ all of her unique magical powers. But, when the mother and sister of her friend got killed then Catalina Baylor risk her own safety and reputation for the sake of unraveling the mystery.

However, behind the scenes, there were some mighty forces at work. One among them was Alessandro Sagredo. He was the Italian prime and once the teenage crush of Catalina as well. The true motives of Alessandro were still not clear which was so challenging.

The story was good to say the least but the narration was compromised. With a different narrator or a better performance by Emily, this audiobook could have been an unforgettable experience.
