Review 1: The Archived – Archived Book 1 by Vm66

This author has become one of my favorites due to her creativity of plotting a story. By just the book title, I have thought it’s about a library full of ancient books with lots of stories to tell. Well, I am wrong on my first thought but correct on a latter. The Archive is a place where dead souls are stored. So I picture it like a mausoleum less decaying bodies. The entire story consists of romance (w/ a tinge of love triangle since this book is YA), mystery, & paranormal.

The story mainly revolves on Mackenna. A teenage girl who is in grief due to the passing of her baby brother. Conveniently, she is a keeper (guard) for The Archive. She guards the Narrow—the receiving area for the ghosts before putting them to sleep and and shelving them in The Archive. She and Wes (another keeper) make sure that the incorporeal entities will not escape to the Outer (the world of the living). Unfortunately, there’s one mysterious escapee who is creating havoc in the Narrow and trying to reach the Outer but cannot do so without a key to open the door to the world of the living. So the rogue ghost has to improvise. On the other hand, Mackenna is asked by one of the ghosts (Owen) to solve the mysterious death of his sister. So the love triangle comes into play on Owen-Mackenna-Wes. I despise love triangle and try not to pick up a book that consists of it, but I know how this author rolls. Love triangle is just a spice to her story and does not live long enough. Anyway, I have enjoyed listening and reading to this first installment. Moving on to the next one.

Review 2: The Archived – Archived Book 1 by Darren Miller

Interesting story

Concept of the Library and the story were interesting. Good twist that I guessed wrong. But the voices all sounded too alike that every character felt the same and the main character appeared so unlikable at times
