The narration by John Lee is amazing. He has kept a solid pace throughout the performance. He sets an excellent tone considering the theme of the novel.

Detective Allon is back in the field where betrayals, unthinkable deeds, and long-buried secrets are waiting for him. As Benjamin Stern enters his flat in Munich, he encounters a man inside who is rummaging through his papers. As he confronts him, the intruder shoots him. As he leaves, he murmurs some words in Latin and grabs the research papers.

Back in Venice, Israeli agent and art restorer Gabriel receives a message saying that Stern is dead and asking him to leave immediately. Then, there is priest Pietro in the Vatican, pacing around the gardens while pondering about the enemies he has made. He is thinking about the journey he must undertake. Somehow, they all know that something is waiting for them, and their paths are destined to come across. It will be that moment which will decide the winner and who lost his life, because there no losers in this fight, only dead bodies.

Many a time, spy thrillers are filled with unbelievable characters that defy the laws of nature. They get out of any situation without a major scratch. Not this one, however, as it has likable characters that we develop affection for because we want them to survive.
