The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger (Full Audiobook) By Stephen King
Stephen King, surely the yard stick in fiction of the current ear always comes with a masterpiece in his hand. Previous books by the author like If It Bleeds and The Stand are sure signs of his greatness and this upcoming series is not an atom of it short. The last of the Gunslinger is what we are dealing with in the series narrated by George Guidall, the only man with passion and potential to narrate King’s works. Roland the Gunslinger is not a family man who would engage himself in earning livelihood for his family and taking care of the children or his wife.
The man lives on free will but it does not mean that he is like the Hemingway heroes who just eat, drink and remain merry. Roland has an assignment or two in his hand that he must fulfill at any rate, nobody has given him this job or task but the field has been adopted by him. Search for the Man in Black proves to be the core purpose of the Gunslinger, for this he moves from place to another witnessing the evil and the good that still remains in the people.
The characters are symbolic mostly like Alice who stands for love, romance and relationship. These are the things that Roland doesn’t believe much but the presence of Alice alongside him shows that his heart is attracted toward the lady and everything that she stands for. For company on the voyage the hero has Jake, a young boy with multiple talents at hand and zeal to fulfill his destiny no matter what the route he has to adopt.
