THE STAND (Audiobook) by Stephen King – Full Audiobooks

“The stand” brings us to the future that will eat all our happiness within a second. Stephen King comes to the monster of technology this time as he wants to convey an important message to us i.e over-dependence on technology can bring catastrophe.

It’s good to see that the writer has changed his basic way of writing as he does not add the supernatural element at all. The world is still not a real one; it’s just the creation of his imagination but is something that can happen to us.

The novel starts like It and Sleeping Beauties: A Novel i.e with sensation when the world ends in front of our eyes in no time. It was just an accident in the defense lab because of which a chain of orders was launched, killing almost 99 percent of the world in a second.

The rest that is left of humanity was left with the plain two choices, whether they want to stand on the good side or they want to become the devil that haunts the innocent. Abagail is the old mother who leads the good side and is in apparently of no match with the devil people call Randall Flagg.

It’s once again about choosing sides as it occurred at the beginning of the universe. The good thing about this edition of the novel is that it has all the details that were there in the original version. Thus no deletion of text exists this time.

Narrators all always the most important part of a novel if the writer is Stephen King because you are given the duty to narrate something that is no present in the real world. Grover Gardner has done the job quite well as the story never loses its impact on our minds and ears.
