Jeffrey Althorpe is in need of extra income for the struggling Baron Sommers. As a peer in the realm, he was not allowed to work, but if he could monetize a book he wrote – anonymously, of course – no one was wiser. The dowry would be easier, but then he would have to find a woman willing to marry a baron.

While her brother, the Earl of Everly, was away on one of his day-long expeditions, Lady Evangeline was left in London to spend her days creating exquisite embroideries and reading books. She was about to buy A Baron’s Tale at the Temple of the Muses when Lord Sommers suddenly appeared. He was going to buy the same book, but there was only one copy.

Eager to discover what changes his publisher might have made to his story – without allowing him to be the author – Jeffrey suggested they read it together. She decided that Evangeline’s top reputation might cause a bit of a scandal, and so she agreed to Lord Sommer’s suggestion.

As the two read The Tale of a Baron, Evangeline realized that some of the characters and settings were a bit too familiar. And a little too close to home. Was she the inspiration for the baron’s secret love, a bold, rude woman of reputation?

Love every second of it. In chronological order, this is Linda Rae Sande’s 10th book and I will definitely listen to them all. Love each and every one of them so far. They’re all Regency romances with a difference, they’re funny, sweet, nice, and steamy just the way I like them.
The narrator Michael Troughton is very good.
Every book is definitely worth the credit.
And I will definitely listen to all of them again. Now to the next one.

Book one of Sisters of the Aristocrat follows Daughters of the Nobles.
In this book, Baron Simmers, struggling with the debt left behind by his father, wrote a book titled ‘The Story of a Baron’. It is partly based on his life and those of the people he knows. One particular in his book is a somewhat scandalous woman. As a new author, he wanted to buy the first book on sale.
At the same time he went to get the book, Lady Evangeline Tennison picked it up and decided to buy it. When he told her that he had come specifically to buy the same book, they agreed that they would read it together.
Quite scandalous indeed! Poor Baron Simmers realizes he’s misjudged the character of the woman he’s based his character on and puts himself in a difficult situation.
Ms. Sands has once again written a good story, certainly with relatable and relatable characters.
This book contains sexual scenes and references and should be suitable only for adult readers.
