01- This is the 10th installment in the series about the last world that still has humanity on it. In this universe, Gababa wiped humanity from the rest of the Galaxy and found the Safehold. Safehold began deliberately using low-tech to avoid being noticed. But humanity won’t stay like that forever.

The plot is about an emerging field pushing the limits of what technology can accept dealing with a global church that specializes in controlling and restricting technology.

The global wars dealt with in book 9 have left many places in ruins, and people are not simply makeup everywhere. When you get to the last chapter you think this is really an end to this series, David has done an excellent job. And then you get a surprise.

02- David Weber’s books all feature very well developed characters who deal with all kinds of real world problems. He keeps his stories consistent. His characters solve problems with honesty, concern for others, and intelligence with strong leanings of democratic, capitalist philosophies.

I really like David Weber’s Safehold series of books. This book is mainly concerned with the human relationships of the main characters, his good-natured people. A classic lesson with no economic disguise, repeated over and over again. He’s had one, repeat one, action scene of slaying dragons throughout the entire episode. And given the length of the book with pretty much nothing happening, he’s paid off with compelling narratives. If you love the series, don’t miss this fascinating series.
