Cilka was only 16 years old when she was taken to Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp in 1942, where the commander immediately noticed how beautiful she was. Forced to separate from the other female prisoners, Cilka quickly learns that strength, even if she doesn’t want to be taken, equates to survival.

When the war ended and the camp was liberated, Cilka was not free: She was accused of being a collaborator for sleeping with the enemy and sent to a prison camp in Siberia. But does she really have a choice? And where do the moral lines lie for Cilka, who was sent to Auschwitz when she was still a child?

In Siberia, Cilka faces challenges that are both new and horribly familiar, including the unwanted attention of the guards. But when she met a kind female doctor, Cilka was led by her and began to target the sick in the camp, struggling to care for them in the brutal conditions.

Faced with death and terror every day, Cilka discovers a power she never knew she had. And as she begins to form relationships and relationships in this harsh new reality, Cilka realizes that despite everything that has happened to her, her heart still has room for love.
